7 sq m (75 sq ft)
Wall mosaic
in student center of Western New Mexico University, New Mexico,
USA. An Indian deity on the left and a classical deity on the right
pour the River Mimbres out of their vessels; the river pools in
the center of the piece where classical and historical figures converse.
The landscape profile includes local monuments and mountain peaks,
while on the right the Hale Bopp comet can be seen in the evening
sky. The University is in the center background. The animal figures
are taken from the ceramics of the Mimbres culture (a local Indian
culture dating back to 1000 AD).
